Builds on EDPR NA’s commitment to New York, as the largest clean power provider in the Empire State

Binghamton, New York (September 18, 2025) – EDPR NA Distributed Generation LLC (EDPR NA DG), the distributed generation business of EDP Renewables North America LLC (EDPR NA), today announced the completion of a community solar project in Broome County that will power more than 100 homes and small businesses as well as major commercial entities in the upstate New York region.

A 5.1 megawatt (MWdc) community solar project in Dickinson will deliver affordable, reliable, locally-generated clean energy to New York Central Mutual (NYCM) Insurance and Ulta Beauty. The project will also serve residential homes and small businesses throughout upstate New York via EDPR NA DG’s partner, PowerMarket.

“Dickinson Community Solar is ready to energize the local community and economy,” said João Barreto, EDPR NA Distributed Generation CEO. “We’re proud that our community solar projects are delivering resilient, cost-effective energy to upstate New York homes and businesses and shoring up the state’s energy independence.”

This project will generate an estimated $1.4 million in energy cost savings for community solar subscribers over 25 years and avoid more than 2,450 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions. During construction, the project supported approximately 80 jobs.

Alliance for Clean Energy New York Executive Director Marguerite Wells said: “ACE NY congratulates EDP Renewables for this achievement. Success breeds success, and with this project, we have another case study to point to the benefits of solar energy in New York. From ratepayer savings to local economic impacts, this is a win for the region and the state.”

PowerMarket President Jason Kaplan said: "PowerMarket values our longstanding collaboration with EDPR NA, which has consistently demonstrated success in delivering community solar projects that are both impactful and inclusive. By fully subscribing this project, we’re ensuring that New York residents and businesses alike see the benefits of lower energy costs and a stronger, cleaner grid."

EDPR NA is one of the largest clean energy providers in New York, with more 705 MW of reliable energy powering the equivalent of 304,200 New York homes. To date, EDPR NA’s energy infrastructure portfolio in New York has catalyzed more than $205 million in economic impact—including $46.5 million in payments to landowners, $87.7 million in tax revenue for local governments, and $70.9 million in in-state spending.
